  • Before this season started, I was told I was a fool for thinking Lando was going to beat Danny, and it's totally possible that I'm still wrong about that. But you have to start admitting that it's not such a crazy hot take that people make it out to be.

  • Max didn't want to overtake there in Turkey around the outside, he wanted to stay behind him but due to the lack of downforce when driving behind someone he ran wide. He explained this on the Dutch f1 show if im correct, was a while ago so im not sure about where he said it.

  • Watch this - fistart.info/tv/videot/zabLsmWBZJuiy5o.html Lando is finally saying what everyone was thinking. Max was already ahead, if he stays on track he stays ahead, if he goes off track he stays ahead so what is the difference? And max went off track because of a mistake (see palmer's video analysis that show the steering wheel went left by mistake). All of you (FIA included) protecting Lewis like a child is pathetic.

  • 3 second time penalty means the result is not seen on the track, but in the times, and it kills the sport. No three second penalty. The car must pit and then return to the track. If you don't want that, then don't exceed the limits.

  • Everyone is "buzzing" from yesterday's race. Really? All these fanboy presenters just get excited from going to the lavatory. There was track limit cheating, and guess what? After all the hype, the results were the same as last year, the year before that and on and on. Bottas is the worst driver F1 has seen. Russell had Hamilton's seat, and in his only race, he embarrassed Bottas. He shamed him. He proved he has no business being behind the wheel of that car. So Hamilton has no competition, and the only car that could make a race out of it is occupied by Mr Slow. Prove me wrong. Hamilton refuses to accept a quality driver in the other car. Just because he doesn't want the competition, doesn't mean the fans want the same. How on earth can that be exciting, and how on earth could that make you "buzz". I watched to see if I was going to buy the F1tv pass for the season. I've got better thngs to do, IMO. I'm an old guy, and yet it would seem the youngsters have a different idea of "exciting" than I do.

This is not to say I don't welcome the competition, but this isn't the Ferrari Bridgestone era. Where Ferrari were getting better tyres every season before the rules were changed to prevent this after years of dominance. I think my point is 2022 will be a new design era, and yet here we have a change that seems to not be a universal disadvantage or advantage.

  • They changed it to appease drivers. Plain and simple. Drivers complain and FIA keeps relenting. And if they strictly enforce track limits it will almost certainly punish less skilled driver in a worse car disproportionately. Just think about Mick in a Haas and max in a red bull, max is going to have so much more confidence in his own skill and his car to test the limits more whereas Mick could only drive on a tight rope, tiptoeing around every corner. I get it it's annoying, I was very annoyed with Charles leclerc in last year's closing race when he was abusing track limits all race and he wasn't even in the points lmao. But at the end of the day I don't think it's as black and white as three strikes and you're out.

  • Leclerc didn't get 5th in the race, he got 6th. And he was only a couple of seconds up the road from Sainz. Also how do you give Ricciardo a B for getting screwed on strategy when Sainz was actually left out a lot longer on both stops than him. When he pitted after the first stint he came out behind Vettel who was on old mediums by the time he caught up and was holding both him and Alonso up. Not to be that guy that takes the ratings too seriously but I mean at least be consistent.

  • Why not always mandate them to stay within the white lines on all tracks. The white line is there to show where the track is, leave at least one piece of your car inside and leave it at that. If you can't you get your time deleted or in the race you take a penalty for each 3 offenses.

    Brick IslandBrick IslandUukausi sitten
  • Tommy’s race review perfectly sums up my view there needs to be consistency even between each track and each corner the rules are changing, why not just keep the solid white racing line as the edge and as long as there is a wheel on the line it’s fine

  • Track limits or no limits. Please please make up your mind FIA. You are writing record books based on this. Another win for Hamilton. Come on he's out there 29 times for a reason it must help in some way. If he wasn't allowed Max might have caught him earlier and we may have been treated to a 10 lap battle for the lead instead of 5 with a different result. This has got to be wrong if a tech expert is needed to explain the regs. Just stay on the track and stop taking the p!$$. The closest race for awhile with the prospect of many more to come this season (before the rule change and reset next year) spoilt, for me by inconsistencies. This is also the 1st time in ages that Hamilton has been challenged closely for the lead and he made a mistake equals an A star?

    John MJohn MUukausi sitten
  • As an Australian, I wouldn't mind seeing Albert Park removed for somewhere else in the country, or at least altered. But considering it's a street circuit, alteration is next to impossible. It's a great track to drive, but not to race. The turns preceding the (too short) straights don't promote cars closing up on each other very well, and the proceeding corners are either not heavy braking zones (T1-2, T11-12 are the fun, fast chicanes), or when they are the track narrows, with an oddly angled corner (they 'loop' too much for their radius and track width -T3, T13), preventing any reasonable moves off-line when considering the next turn in sequence. And for the love of God, find a way to open up the final turn. It's a crap corner.

Became a bit of a Max fan and was loving the race, especially the overtake in the final battle, and is confused about the penalty, and is wondering what's the point. New fans can be that fragile early on. Us old-hands shrug and compare it to other ridiculous nonsense rules from the past. But newbies, it just makes it all seem staged. The wife is fully on board with the idea that the FIA are favouring Hamilton and can't see the point in watching.

    arPos KraftarPos KraftUukausi sitten
  • @19:25 i agree its counter intuitive but it does follow logic ... although i do not generally agree that it doesnt matter in race pace...if it didnt then hamilton wouldnt be doing it, it matters a lot for exit speed if done right; but to me they should be more stict outside of overtaking situations as well; I would probably give a rookie driver some lenience given that its clear he isnt purposefully taken the mick, I might give leniency with experienced drivers if they show to ride that line of the curb and pretend to stay somewhat in the margin... I would not at all give leniency to blatant driving fully outside of the track limits; theres litterally no professional F1 situation in which you need to "save" the car by going way outside...that just means braking to late taking a much wider and thus higher speed corner...I would certainly and most definetly not extend such leniency to a 7 time world champion who is among the people with the most races under his belt on this platform period... and i would not allow it based on the single most important rule in F1; drivers and teams are not to do anything to bring in disrepute the F1 circus.... I do agree the FIA has butter on their head though; as other people point out; if the rules are made clear the drivers will follow them... if the rules are left vague teams will try to exploit them...whether thats on design...measurement methods...or how to interpret a track limit...they will...because THATS what the sport it about, so it should be abundantly clear when and when not you get away with it That said; I dont doubt for a second Max knew this; thats also why without much protest he returned the position to hamilton...its just when he realised it was going to happen he was already commited... so try and if it gets passed then great, if not...well water under the bridge at that point And again that all being said and me being in favour of general strict track limit rules I do believe max was already ahead when hammy shut the door and it in this should have been allowed; however saying that is with a measure of inaccuracy due to camera angles and whatnot but after looking it back I do not see how max was not already in front

What if that time you gain just allow you to edge in front of a competitor while he is in the pit lane, changing tires?! This isn’t technically overtaking but it does provide you an advantage in passing an opponent, doesn’t it? How is the rule fair then? The advantage you get is absolutely the same! Track limits should be between the white lines, whatever happened to that simple rule?!
