  • How can you grade hamilton A for this race, like for real? Messed up the start, broke off wing parts by forcing the issue round the outside, drove into gravel, broke off front wing..??? U wot m8? Before his crash he wasn't that much faster than verstappen who was stuck in traffic, thats why gap went down. You're not seriously grading this performance almost the same as the one in Bahrain?

  • Really really disappointed with the way you ARE so ready to write Daniel Ricciardo off! For heaven's sake... thought you guys should know better running this for a while that no matter how experienced the driver is when you are in a new team you still take time to get to know them!! He wasn't lighting up the stars when he joined Renault!!! Absolutely disrespectful! You are biased! Lando is not new n he is not a rookie any more! He has had full advantage of knowing his team n feel of the car! You didn't even acknowledge that for someone who is getting to b in his SECOND RACE!, Daniel SCORED points! With rain n all! Really Really disappointed with your assessment.. were you really being objective obviously not! Did you say No excuses Mat?? Really of course the common sense people gave Ricciardo a B cos they understand that this is a brand new team for him.. n its not just HIS fans!!! N I wonder Tom said solid points for team but you guys still say effort is rubbish? Unbelievable! Really disappointed! Wonder if you will read this n if you do try to Really listen to the contradiction of yeah Really good solid points but let's not recognise Daniels contribution positively! Not everthing is about beating your teammate.. I usual love listening to you guys but feel really let down n yes I am a fan of Daniel.

  • I think you've gotta be insane to think Russell has destroyed his chances, he was literally about to overtake a Merc in a Williams and he was strong all weekend, it's almost just as important if not more.

    Lyle ClarkeLyle Clarke13 päivää sitten
  • 1. Russell is rubbish. 5-6 races he`s thrown away points that Williams would have needed in the end of the year points tally. 2. Maybe Toto should send George Russell to Aston. Aston Martin is a team with modest finances, and I dont think they will be able to continue affording to pay Sebbie Vettel £15Million Quid a year, to be slower than Lance Stroll. 3. Ocon is a fast + reliable point scorer. It will be better if Toto replaces Bottas with Esteban Ocon, and if they send Russell to Aston (or another year at Williams for Russell to mature).

  • Okay, this is a nice podcast and all but one thing that is incredibly annoying is that Katie‘s points are regularly shut down/ignored because Matt and Tommy always speak before she’s able to give her take on something. Automatically she’s forced to repeat herself and dive into extra details to be able to make an original point, which is why I’m guessing she always prepares extra stats/info/whatever. It’s just annoying to see week after week Katie putting in the effort but her points being ignored or immediately followed up by a transition to another topic by Matt

  • Your critique of Russell is incorrect in this video. 1 he was travelling at speeds over 300 km/hour, at a much higher speed than bottas. when he made the commitment of overtaking valterri ( going right ), it was too late to slow down for him after that. 2 Valterri should have been much more aware of him on the outside. 3 If he wouldnt have tried to overtake, why is he racing at all is my question ? 4 he jerked the wheels in a reaction because at that speed even if bottas is only drifting towards the right side in the dry parts of the track, it is sure to make him react that way because in his mind he is runnnign out of road to drive on, which in itself is VERY volatile, even IF he had the room to stay on the track. 5 His reaction to Bottas driving is fully understandeable, considering the speeds at which they were going. period. ( you try to drive a race car over 300 km/hour crash out and NOT react, yeah right ! ) 6 in the end he was coming from behind and is of course responsible, since the track has no lanes to which one has to commit to as in ordinary civil traffic driving, and as long as we dont have lanes in f1, the driver behind is always more responsible, and because of this fact, in the long run f1 is risking of becoming boring in the sporting sense, since noone can ever overtake another without risking a crash, because what the drivers do is just steer towards the trajectory of the faster car behind. SO, F1 NEEDS lanes that has to be committed to, and that has to be sorted in the sporting regulations of F1 too. end of story. every other solution, is as it is right now, up to the inconsequential stewarding of F1, which at many times in history, has been appalling. How many agree or disagree on pointers here and why ?

  • It's wat Max says on the topic about the mistakes and in this case George, if you drive in a not so good car you have to drive your ass off every lap (every lap becomes a qualify lap) and that's very different in a fast car and even more "easy" if it's a balanced fast car. And Bottas was always very average at best but now the midfield is a lot closer Lewis fans see it too, last year he would still have been on the 1st or 2nd row with a 0.400 quall gap, the world class teammate is and was very average

    YerrieYerrie15 päivää sitten
  • I know Bottas was wrong because I have and many with me on Iracing been in the same situation and I know the turn very well, populair track were we race a lot. and if you do like me your homework you login F1TV and watch the replay onboard Lewis passing 5 in the same corner and all stay inside until the end of the turn. And it get's worse, you see just before George hit's the grass Bottas quickly goes more to the left, Bottas did not expect (no surprise with Lewis his world class teammate that he has been beating for pole's and WDC's) that George would come out of de slipstream and still pass and when he did he gave more space but it was already to late. I suggest to get a F1TV subscription and watch the other overtakes and see were all the others cross the pitlane exit

  • 19:49 I agree I was disappointed but “wider Mercedes family”. He’s not actually a Mercedes F1 driver he drives for Williams and I feel like people forget that. Even Toto. It was 70:30 his fault but those extra points are incredibly important for a team like Williams where they have to go for every opportunity, the “wider Mercedes family” shouldn’t even be on his mind. Personally I don’t think he was trying to slate Bottas with his line about 9th place no kinda felt like he thought that Bottas saw a Williams and thought “I don’t need to move out of the way for this car”. I think he was wrong in that assessment, Bottas doesn’t seem like that kinda guy, but I think that’s what he meant. So yeah definitely disappointing but if this is all it takes to to be taken off the consideration list for Mercedes then maybe it’s better to stay at Williams frankly.

Same place but Norris is much further left and he makes it clear he’s not going to squeeze Hamilton. Bottas jerks left but by that point Russel is level with him. • With regards to the Bottas Russel crash, the way I see it BOT allowed himself to drift from just inside the racing line (he was all the way on the left/inside of the dry line and in that corner quite suddenly (with RUS nearly beside him at that point) allows himself to drift all the way to the right/outside of the dry line (His right wheels slightly hit the wet patches on the right) BOT is still on the racing line, he's still leaving some space, but the sudden sharp correction further left just before the impact makes me thinks he suddenly realises he may have pushed a bit too hard. RUS just pushed too far and too hard on a wet track, but if I look at the onboard I can see why he thought BOT made a reckless blocking move and forced him further onto the wet than he expected. Ie, it was a racing incident. I don't think Russel is all that much more guilty for this one than Bottas.

I think the performance of bottas will outweigh Russell's one time he acted like an actual human.

  • I think George gets a bit of leeway in being so worked up. Unprofessional, sure. But he's in a Williams where they NEED those points. I can see his theory that Bottas should be higher in the order, honestly, he should be. George is fighting for effectively scraps of points, and any of these sorts of scraps leading to DNF's is by far more detrimental than a tap to the head.

  • George is desperate for a point or two.. Bottas said himself he knew George was there and kept the dry line to himself he also admitted he didn't hear what George had said, so why the finger, that was out before anything was said. Not defending anyone but people like to ignore what's in front of them. Seriously what is a merc doing that far back, waiting maybe. Netflix showed bottas has his own agenda.

  • I have never heard so much waffle in all my life, what is Tommy talking about. He thinks one botched move by Russell on Bottas means he won’t get a Mercedes seat, do me a favour. I agree it was his fault. Bottas did squeeze him and maybe should of been a little more circumspect, but they are in the heart of battle this is careers on the line. He has to go for that move. Also when they are in the pen he’s still going to be fuming as Bottas could of avoided the incident aswel it’s a 60/40 racing incident. Not sure why the knives are out so much for George.

Why do you think the stewards waited until Sebastien came out of the pit to give him a pit lane penalty for something that occurred prior to the race start? If the pairing would've been different all discussions would've ended after 2 seconds. Also, if Bottas goes for the inside he better stick to it and use his bloody wheel. He just used the track as an excuse to push him off. He was clearly sleeping... As a Scandinavian I love Bottas, but if he doesn't close the gap then he better respect and anticipate an attack...

  • YOU HAMILTON FANBOYS/GIRLS. But on a serious note: while I like the podcast there are several things I disagreed with. I think the 'hate' for Hamilton is actually hate for dominant drivers. Seb faced the same thing in the dominant Red Bull and the Mercedes has been more dominant than the Red Bull for an even longer time. I also think you can acknowledge Hamilton's obvious greatness and fantastic recovery drive, whislt also acknowledging that he was incredibly lucky with the red flag because his front wing was broken so not only did he get a lap back, he also got a free pitstop on top of that. Lastly red flag rules were changed initially back in 2007 when Hamilton out of all people got a free lap from a red flag. They changed the rule back to the current one in 2012. Anyway great watch, but a clear B(+) from me for Hamilton.

If you say the crowd is the greatest everywhere, it's a fake and meaningless statement. If you get rid of your private jet because you say you care about the climate, but then proceed to sell said jet to another company, have that company lease it to another company and then rent the jet from that company and still fly it, that also seems fake and trying to appear good rather than being good. That being said his skills on track are undeniable.

  • It’s 2+ years of total frustration with being stuck in that Williams with Bottas week in week out being useless in the Mercedes boiling over. “Nice lad wouldn’t hurt a fly” don’t end up in a top team. So many top drivers over the years have shown their ruthless side and actions whether it be Piquet Senior, Prost, Senna, Schumacher, Montoya, Hamilton, Vettel, Verstappen. I think you guys are totally overplaying his actions particularly as he’s now come out and apologised about it. I thought Bottas was good in the Williams and thought he was the best choice to replace the retiring Rosberg, but he’s increasingly unable to justify his position in that team and F1 in general to me.

If the cars are more competitive, the difference is the drivers and if other teams are competitive Merc will absolutely take Russell no if ands or butts.

  • This is literally not gonna change anything for Russell. People just don’t understand how annoying it is to see eveyone succeeding around you. And constantly when you are in a moment of success in your own place it snatched from you. And then when you “believe” you didn’t do anything wrong. In the moment he believe he didn’t do anything wrong and so the pent up frustration went out. I also don’t understand the idea that Mercedes wouldn’t take Russell after this. McLaren but especially Red Bull have to star drivers and a better car if this continues to next year they will need to star drivers not just Lewis and someone who is good but not great. I think this nothing but a blip, a data point that they will watch but continue to know if that’s not the behavior he exhibits then he is fine. I mean Lewis literally shared Telemetry data. People do stupid things. Just focusing on something big in the moment but small in the grand scheme of things.

  • Am I the only one thinking, "It's racing. Shit happens. Get over it. Neither driver did anything wrong." about the Russell/Bottas thing?

  • I honestly don't think this incident will mater : Mercedes can see that Bottas is abnormally struggling and they need someone to replace him. Russell is to talented for Merc to prevent him from getting a seat next year. I do believe they actually made a mistake by sticking with Bottas this year considering his start, this is only the second race though.

  • Bottas is at the end of his career, he’s got more to lose than Russell. Maybe he did nudge too hard for a reason. Toto made mistake commenting on the top drivers racing each other two hard, now what, the whole thing is rigged?
