The Rule Changes F1 Got VERY Wrong

There have been times when F1 could have done a little better with some of their rules...

  • They fucked so much with qualifying and now they wanna fuck with it again. Dont they realize that quali is pretty exciting but the races are bad?

    ChuckieleChuckiele49 minuuttia sitten
  • If FIA want spectacle, they need to introduce something like Challenge Card. Each race the last driver in position will draw a challenge card that other driver must done during the race, like do a donut, drift on first turn, drive naked, what have you. You get extra score if you finish the task.

  • If F1 wants to be a real Race sport...the one rule that is eluding the rule maker's is,,, the same performance car for All Driver's.. give everyone the same ammunition to fight !!

    Renaldo NelRenaldo NelPäivä sitten
  • I was all for the medal system. Or at least much less point scoring positions and lower points for those positions. If you reduce the amount of point scoring positions drivers would need to fight more and if you reduce the amount of points on offer you reduce the chance of a driver running away in the standings. If you want a last race championship decider then I think this is how to achieve it.

  • Honestly if they would ad the medals as more to honor certain action wich but in a non championship manner, like if you had a mishap but made sure nobody else went out of the race because of it or even giving up a place because you did something really bad. Like in sportsmanship type of things. One thing i find really bad is the fact that the cars are so silent compared to the older cars, i feel like they need to scream at their loudest to show off how f1 is: the coolest race in any way shape or form. One thing i would like to add for point is driver of the day: the selected driver of the day gets 1 extra point even if the driver has not finished looking also at grosjean's crash last year..

  • I was an F1 fan from the early ’80s until they stopped refueling. F1 has become uninteresting. Aerodynamic changes prevented overtaking without the use of DRS and KERS. No more real side-by-side duels we remember from the time of Senna, Prost, Mansell, Piquet,... etc. That’s why I follow only Moto GP. I only watch F1 sometimes and rarely watch the whole race. F1 has become boring by regulations and stupid as hell. No thanks

    Angelus BellumAngelus Bellum3 päivää sitten
  • 5:30 That wasn't very wrong at all. Maybe a little wrong. (F1 raced with one set of tires for decades. ) They should have banned refueling as well, for it to matter, instead of it being mandatory. And set a minimum time like 10 seconds for tire change, instead of not allowing anything but replacing a single damaged tire. Which I don't even remember happening. What would it have been like? One tire in perfect condition with all the grip and all the rest in worn and slippy.

    Vincenzo MelisiVincenzo Melisi5 päivää sitten
    • It is determined after the previous season's team championship order. So in 2021, the team champions of 2020, Mercedes, have the first pit box, Red Bull have the second, and Williams the last. I'm not entirely sure, however, whether this changes when the drivers champion is from another team, which team gets the first box, the team champions or the drivers champion's team.

  • I think the rule of best 10 of 12 results was a great rule. It actually tells u who is the better driver and who actually wanted to win rather than just being calculatively 2nd

    Vimal BeniwalVimal Beniwal5 päivää sitten
  • 1. No refueling = more boring races. 2. Must change tires and to a different set = why? Just make them more different from each other so that a short lasting soft tire actually gives a speed advantage. 3. Restrictions on Engines, Parc Ferme and all that nonsense is no longer needed. Total season budget cap will force teams to prioritize where to put the money. Artificial restrictions to "lower the cost" should be removed again.

  • Well let's hope refuelling will be back at one point it's no point of F1 cars to not refuel, let's hope they actually turn to synthetic fuel or eco fuel and ditch the batteries completely (it's the main reason the cars are looking heavy and dreadful) and let's hope the Quali format of 2005 to be back, one lap magic each, no traffic or stupid strategies the slower cars start first and the weather changes will do the miracle and mix things (Yeah Japan 2005). Ah and the rule interpretation of track limits to be clear and not as shit as this season or the previous seasons (Yes Lewis you got advantages through that).

    dreadalexdreadalex5 päivää sitten
  • missed the one where during elim quali cars had to start on their tyres from Q3 not Q2, so the cars that just made it to Q3 wouldn't go out at all and the top teams would generally do 1 lap in q3

THAT would be worth watching. 2:00 - First you whine about double points and "anti-climatic finishes", but then you whine against the solution to it. Best results means a driver far back in the championship could win with a strong finish to the season.

  • I think the hybrid engine rules are the worst. With no refuelling coming in an unfortunately distant second place. Having regenerative braking and small batteries, thats great. But with an MGU-H which resembles a jet engine more than a conventional motor, and requires jet engine specialist engineers to design puts the price way up. Costs to produce the engines are so high they need to add a ton of extra rules to lower costs (limited engines per year, no party mode, etc). Cost to design the engines is obscene making all the engine manufacturers pull out and making the best engine so much further away than the rest due to the obscene money thrown about. The engines alone have caused the vast majority of F1s problems today. Fuel flow limits are also a pet hate of mine. There's already enough incentive to save fuel that cars don't fill up all the way. The limits just damage overtaking and the tactical opportunities. The rest are caused by a lack of refuelling. The huge speed differences of different strategies refuelling allows makes for a lot of overtakes. Some with short stints need to really be on the overtakes but the benefits are great enough to try. Instead they have had to replace refuelling with tyres engineered to wear prematurely in an attempt to make up for it. But every year there seems to be problems with the tyres and it continually disappoints. Plus the excessive size is solely to do with refuelling bans, legendary tracks are either unable to support racing and struck off or simply don't have overtakes anymore. With those two issues gone F1 would be the sport we all desperately want.

    Dutch MessiahDutch Messiah6 päivää sitten
    • Wouldn't that cause other problems though? Like you probably could lose 0.4 secs a lap but still be able to finish in front of one-stoppers; and that's also pretty broken. To be honest, it might balance out with soft tires being REALLY fast but I don't really see that happening.

  • When will people understand, that the double points finale in 2014 was due to there being less races on the official calendar, than the proposed. Effectively Bernie wanted to have the same number of points available if the cancelled races of India, Korea and Mexico were still on the table. The teams didn't like that idea, so came to an agreement of 1x double points race.

  • I loved the qualifications format that was in place in final part of the 2005 season: Each driver had exactly one lap to set a time. It meaned that everyone had an opportunity to shine, because when it was your turn, you were the only one competiting. It was fair but could produce some unexpectedness, because that was a format that clearly didn't forgive any mistake. Which is cool :) Pressure was high when the last ones were on the track, but drivers performing under high pressure is exactly why we're here for.
